Helping Hurricane Sandy Victims this FRIDAY Nov 9th at 9 am till 1 pm at "CRAFTING ANGELS" (Relief Society room at the Stake Ctr on St. Joseph st). All helping hands, all faiths, are welcome to join us in this effort. Please invite your neighbors!
Bev Qualheim's son Shaun lives in Brooklyn, NY and his Stake RS President has requested any warm items
we can make. So many out east have lost absolutely everything! We will work on tying quilts, blankets- which are REALLY needed badly, hats all sizes, mittens, baby clothes, scarves, toys, shawls, gently used clothing, bedding etc. We will do what we can.
We have yarn and a few crochet hooks, but please bring your own knitting needles or round knitting looms (available at Home Hardware, or at Walmart) (Potluck lunch- please bring a dish to share.)
If you can donate a little to offset postage that would be great.

Leadership Training - Keeping up with Technology
It’s no secret that keeping up with advances in technology is critical
to surviving and thriving in the business world.
Get over your denial.
Avoid jumping to the conclusion that new technology will not affect you.
Think ahead.
Have a vivid imagination and think about all kinds of different possibilities for the way technology could impact you and your calling.
Embrace change.
It is always frightening to change, especially if you have been successful in what you are currently doing.
Seek a tech mentor.
Ask the advice from someone who actively engages with technology.
Set goals.
Outline clear, measurable goals to achieve mastery of a new technology, whether it’s creating a blog and posting once a week, or just to update your Facebook status.
Practice.
Like anything else, becoming a master of technology tools requires practice.
Stay current.
Keep up on technology trend to familiarize yourself with new tools.
The internet provides a way for Church members to find people in ways unimaginable a generation ago, and as technologies improve so will the Church member’s ability to share the gospel.
final thought ......
To move up the ladder in business, you must embrace new technology. If
you don’t, there are plenty of other individuals who will be waiting to sweep
past you.
“The Lord has inspired men to
invent these great tools,” he said. “Now if we don’t use them to teach His
gospel, Satan will use them to lead the people astray” (Quote from Boyd K. Packer, The Holy Temple)
Our Leadership Training Meeting Theme for tonight is “Using Technology to Further the Purpose of
Relief Society”. We want to help you understand and use the available technology
from the Church by implementing it into your Ward programs as you see
necessary.
When we talk about Technology the first thing most people think and say
is:
I am not a “Techie”!!
Here are some ways to increase your savvy if you were not born a “techie”?
Get over your denial.
Avoid jumping to the conclusion that new technology will not affect you.
Don’t get hung up on the way you’ve always done things.
Think ahead.
Have a vivid imagination and think about all kinds of different possibilities for the way technology could impact you and your calling.
Embrace change.
It is always frightening to change, especially if you have been successful in what you are currently doing.
But with the waves of technology that are sweeping across the world, change
is becoming the norm.
Commit to spending a set amount of time each week.
Stay current.
Keep up on technology trend to familiarize yourself with new tools.
“With the blessings of modern technology, we can express gratitude and
joy about God’s great plan for His children in a way that can be heard not only
around our workplace but around the world. Sometimes a single phrase of
testimony can set events in motion that affect someone’s life for eternity.
President Uchtdorf - April General Conference 2011The internet provides a way for Church members to find people in ways unimaginable a generation ago, and as technologies improve so will the Church member’s ability to share the gospel.
“Does the use of technology and media invite or impede the constant
companionship of the Holy Ghost in your life??

Leadership Training Handouts - Using Technology
Using Technology to Further the
Purpose of Relief Society
"The Lord has inspired men to invent these great tools,"
he said. "Now if we don't use them to teach His gospel,
Satan will use them to lead the people astray"
(quote in Boyd K. Packer, The Holy Temple [1980], 239.
Social Media Websites
Millions of people are connecting on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, and Church members are sharing the gospel there too.
Information tends to spread quickly
and easily on social networks, which makes it an appealing way to share the
gospel. At LDS.org, all items in the Gospel Library
section feature a “Share” tool, as do most pages on new.lds.org,
allowing users to easily share links to Church magazine articles, general
conference talks, and lesson manuals on various social media sites.
Social network users can also become
a fan of the Church’s official Facebook pages, such asFacebook.com/LDS and Facebook.com/Mormon. The Church has more
than 380,000 fans, the Book of Mormon has more than 233,000 fans, and thousands
more users have joined other Church-affiliated pages. When a Facebook user
joins and participates in a group, his or her friends are notified. Thus, the
friends of hundreds of thousands of Facebook users have been exposed to the
Church through Facebook.
Church members are also using
Twitter, a social networking website used to send brief messages (“tweets”) via
the Internet, to share the gospel. Most notably, general conference was
Twitter’s top trend in April 2009, meaning general conference was
mentioned in more tweets than any other subject. There are official LDS Church
Twitter pages such as Twitter.com/ldschurch
andTwitter.com/Mormonorg as
well.
The Church has also established a
presence on YouTube, a popular video posting website, which has generated a
positive reaction from members and nonmembers alike. Every Mormon Messages video,
like all others posted to YouTube, can be easily posted on a blog or shared via
e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter.
These efforts are all in line with a
perspective voiced by Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve
Apostles: “Ultimately it is my responsibility and your responsibility to find
people for the missionaries to teach. Missionaries are full-time teachers; you
and I are full-time finders.”
The
Internet provides a way for Church members to find people in ways unimaginable
a generation ago, and as technologies improve, so will Church members’ ability
to share the gospel.
“With the blessings of modern technology, we can express gratitude and joy about God’s great plan for His children in a way that can be heard not only around our workplace but around the world. Sometimes a single phrase of testimony can set events in motion that affect someone’s life for eternity.”
